Teen crashes SUV she stole from her mom

Four teenage girls were taken into custody Monday afternoon for fleeing Manhattan in a stolen SUV through the Holland Tunnel before crashing in Jersey City, NJ, police sources said.

A PAPD cop tried to pull over the 15-year-old driver, who was behind the wheel of the Nissan Pathfinder, at the Canal Street and Varick Street entrance to the tunnel in Lower Manhattan for an undisclosed traffic infraction, police said.

But instead of stopping, the young hellion behind the wheel – along with her three 14-year-old passengers – roared off through the tunnel toward New Jersey.

PAPD cops determined that the young scofflaw driver had swiped her mother’s car to go shopping and opted to break off the chase soon after it began due to safety concerns, sources said.

A short time later, the vehicle came to an abrupt halt at Palisade and Booraem avenues in Jersey City, after it struck a parked car, sources said.

Nobody was injured, but cops took all four kids into custody.

A source said the girl behind the wheel seems to have a penchant for racing cars that don’t belong to her.

“She was arrested two weeks ago for driving another stolen vehicle. The juvenile justice system is clearly working,” said a disgusted law-enforcement official.
