Suspects crash into police car after fleeing homicide scene

Three suspects in the killing of a 24-year-old Bronx man were caught when their getaway car crashed into a police cruiser just a block from the crime scene, authorities said.

Cops patrolling Highbridge on Saturday heard gunshots at about 2 a.m. near Anderson Avenue and West 164th Street, said police.

The officers raced to the scene in time to see a gray Mitsubishi Galant speeding away. Then, the officers discovered the victim, Earl Simmons, with a bullet wound in his head.

The suspects only got as far as Woodycrest Avenue and West 164th Street — barely 100 yards from the crime scene — when they T-boned another police car, said police sources.

The three men ditched their smashed-up car and tried to run off on foot. They didn’t get far before cops collared them.

Officers hauled the trio to the 44th Precinct for questioning. They have yet to be charged.

Cops found a gun in an alley near the scene.

Simmons was declared dead at Lincoln Hospital.

Two officers suffered minor injuries in the car crash.
