Whatever you do, don’t pee on the walls in Pamplona

People who need to relieve themselves in public during next week’s running of the bulls festival in Pamplona are going to get into a real pissing match — with the wall.

Spanish authorities plan to add a coat of water-repelling paint to the medieval walls upon which hundreds of revelers have historically taken a whiz during the week-long festival, that kicks off July 6.

Running of the Bulls revelers will be in for quite a shock if they try to pee on the walls in Pamplona — they’ll be greeted by new splatter-back paint.IG St. Pauli

“The stream of urine rebounds from the surface and soaks the trousers and shoes of those who decide to relieve themselves in a public space,” a Pamplona city council spokesman told The Local.

The pee-resistant paint isn’t visible to the naked eye, and will be slathered onto the base of the walls ahead of the famous San Fermin festival.

Pamplona officials have been battling urine-soaked streets during the boozy festival for decades.

Things have gotten so bad authorities have reported puddles of urine and pee-soaked walls releasing an “unhealthy” stench, officials told the site.

In years past, the city council has tried to combat its pee problem by adding more portable urinals, to no avail.

Pamplona is not the first city to use the liquid-resistant paint.

San Francisco painted numerous urine hot spots throughout the city with the paint to try to prevent people from peeing in public last year.

They used Florida company, Ultra-Ever Dry, which boasts that if someone tries to take a leak on one of their painted walls, the urine “will bounce back on your pants and wet your pants and hopefully that will send you a message and you won’t come back,” a spokesman told CBS affiliate KPIX.
