Matt Lauer lists Hamptons beach cottage for $3.9M

Now that TV personality Matt Lauer has bought a massive $36 million Hamptons estate from activist actor Richard Gere, he has put his waterfront beach cottage on the market for $3.9 million.

“It’s a really sweet house,” says an insider who has toured it.

The charming beach house, at Scotts Landing Road, is a mere 1,800 square feet and comes with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It features a cathedral ceiling living room with a fireplace, a small but sunny country kitchen with a bay window, a dining area and an enclosed porch with glass doors that lead to the outside, according to the listing.

There’s also a wrap-around deck that overlooks the lawn, water and dock and a detached garage, the listing notes. The home is part of a closed community with tennis courts and a bay beach with a pavilion for community events.

Listing broker Susan Breitenbach, of The Corcoran Group, declined to comment.

The property takes up .75 acres, including 85 feet on the water. It comes with lush landscaping.

It’s a far cry from Lauer’s new digs, a 12-bedroom mansion on 6.2 acres in North Haven. The estate — which was originally asking an eye-popping $65 million — is known as Strongheart Manor.

Lauer still owns Bright Side Farm, a horse farm in Water Mill, and he recently won the right to plant shrubs to give the farm more privacy from neighbors. But that property might also be up for sale soon, sources say.
