Philly is about to make an ass of itself.

Artists from around the country are coating donkeys in colorfully eerie patterns and intricate designs to celebrate next month’s Democratic National Convention.

Twenty-eight artists have been commissioned to custom-design the 57 disturbing fiberglass animals. Each ass — mascot of the Democrats — represents the convention’s delegations (every state, territory and Washington, D.C.).

The life-sized figures will be scattered around Philadelphia at city landmarks when Hillary Clinton officially clinches the party’s nomination for president.

Each ass is unique in frightening design. The Pennsylvania donkey, for instance, brightly wears the Liberty Bell, as well as the state bird, flag and flower.

“It’s so cool” to be a part of the project, artist Barbara Sosson said. She is decorating the donkeys representing Texas and Iowa.

The convention will be held July 25-28 in Philadelphia.
