Trump plans to present Melania as a 21st Century Jackie O

Donald Trump’s campaign will promote his wife, Melania, as a formidable first lady and a 21st-century Jackie Kennedy at the Republican convention next month while flooding the stage with a television-ready cavalcade of celebrities, sources said.

The mogul’s family and famous friends, rather than politicians, will be a dominant theme at the Trump-run convention in Cleveland July 18-21.

“There will be very compelling testimonials from his children and his wife,” a Trump adviser said. “Melania will be recast as the next Jackie O. She speaks four languages.”

Trump has enlisted reality-TV producer Mark Burnett, who created “The Apprentice” with him, to help make the TV broadcast interesting, the source said.

The campaign hopes to reap the “highest ratings of any convention in modern television history,” another Trump source said.

“This is the first Republican candidate who knows how to read a ratings book. Imagine a different type of convention that grows out of that.”

Among those said to be on the speaker wish list are the NFL’s Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady, NASCAR CEO Brian France, UFC President Dana White and former basketball coach Bobby Knight.

But Roethlisberger and France said they wouldn’t attend. A White rep said he hadn’t been invited. Brady’s agent did not return calls.

But there’s no shortage of picks. Ex-athletes Johnny Damon, Paul O’Neill, Curt Schilling, Dennis Rodman and Mike Tyson have endorsed Trump, as have actors Kirstie Alley and Jon Voight and rocker Ted Nugent.

“You’ll see every type of multiethnic person they can get on stage,” the adviser said. “If Muhammad Ali were still alive, he’d have him up there.”

At a Las Vegas rally Saturday, Trump dismissed reports that a group of delegates was plotting to hand the nomination to one of his primary-season rivals instead.

“It’s a hoax, I’m telling you . . . I beat the hell out of them,” he said.
