Two people died and five were critically injured in two car crashes in the city Sunday.
Michael Rhone, 39, died — and four others were hurt, including two critically — when a speeding BMW hit a Cadillac in The Bronx on Sunday morning, police said.
The BMW was speeding down Bronxwood Avenue when it struck the Cadillac being driven by Rhone at 219th Street, authorities said.
Two 16-year-olds who were in the Cadillac with him were hospitalized in stable condition.
The 28-year-old man who was driving the BMW and a 29-year-old female passenger were in critical condition, police said. All of the injured were taken to Jacobi Hospital.
Several hours later, a crash on Staten Island left another person dead and 12 others hurt, including three critically, officials said.
The accident involved 10 cars and happened around 1:45 p.m. at Victory Boulevard and Travis Avenue near the William T. Davis Wildlife Refuge. Six people were treated at Richmond University Medical Center, and four were taken to Staten Island University North.
