FedEx worker killed in Bronx hit-and-run

A 26-year-old Bronx FedEx worker was killed by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday as he biked to his girlfriend’s house during a brief break between shifts.

Giovanni Nin, known as Gio, was pronounced dead at the accident scene on East Tremont and Mayflower avenues.

He was struck by a silver BMW X5 heading east at around 12:40 a.m., cops said.

No arrests have been made.

Nin worked at a FedEx facility on Zarega Avenue about two miles away.

“He was on the phone with his girlfriend like two minutes before it happened,” said Nin’s uncle, Alcides Urena. “He told her that he was coming home and that he was supposed to be going back to work at 3 o’clock in the morning, because he was supposed to do a double shift.”

Nin was just a block away from his girlfriend’s home when he was hit.

“He was a good guy,” said pal William Rodriguez, 24.
