Why you should cut your hair this summer

As much as we love Tarzan manes, ’fros and other lengthy ’dos, the truth is that hair and sticky summer heat are about as compatible as Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump.

Guys, common sense suggests it’s time to consider running out in search of shears.

“I have seen a rise in tapered cuts over the past season,” says Losi — just one name, like Prince — a celebrity hairstylist at New York City’s Martial Vivot Salon Pour Hommes. “And when the hot, humid weather hits, there’s always an influx of men saying, ‘Take it off!’ ”

The logic of a low-maintenance cut has certainly spread among the celebrity set, with supershort styles — crew cuts, buzz cuts, all things tapered — ruling the red carpet.

Tom Hardy kicked things off earlier this year while out building up “The Revenant,” rocking a slick textured crop — offset by an equally neat beard — that looked 98 percent hassle-free. Miles Teller got the memo, debuting in March a preppy-approved cut GQ deemed “an ideal take-to-the-barber option.”

At the Met Gala in May, Idris Elba made a superb case for the close fade. And then, of course, there’s Zayn Malik. The former One Directioner famously buzzed away his boy-band coif in March. As his ex-flame Gigi Hadid can tell you, he has looked decidedly cooler ever since.
