The twins outfitting the Canadian Olympic team — and Beyoncé

Twin designers Dean and Dan Caten, the founders of DSquared2, are having quite a good year. Here, the duo talks to Alexa about the Olympics, Father’s Day and Queen Bey.

Dsquared2 is outfitting the Canadian Olympic team. What did you want the designs to communicate?
Dan: The opening ceremony look is made with our passion for our birth country mixed with the energetic spirit of Dsquared2. It’s a moment of tremendous national pride.

What is your summer-style philosophy?
Dean: Living by the three C’s for the summer: comfortable, cool and chic. And never forget [the idea] of being and wearing what you feel.

Are there any current-season men’s fashion trends that should be ignored?
Dan: You can follow the current trends, have on the most fashionable items, but what can really differentiate you is how you wear something. Do not exaggerate — just be yourself.

Dads can be hard to shop for. What would you say is the perfect Father’s Day gift?
Dan: Definitely a watch. But our gift for [our] dad is just spending some time together, as sometimes we don’t have the opportunity.

Dsquared2 created ensembles for Beyoncé’s 2016 Formation World Tour — what’s your favorite thing about the superstar?
Dean: We love everything about Beyoncé and have been fans of her music and style for many years. Working with her is a huge thrill and honor every time. She is such a strong, fierce woman!
