The May 2016 issue of Vogue has arrived. But wait — who is that girl on the cover?

Is Karlie Kloss having a Debbie Harry moment? Did Anna Wintour sucker Sienna Miller into that horrifying bone-cracking surgery so the actress would finally be sufficiently model-length?

No, it’s Taylor Swift. And she looks fantastic. No, better: She looks fashion. “Taylor Swift As You’ve Never Seen Her Before,” says the magazine. Oh my god, red lipstick! A bob!

The cover sees Swift — who’s fronted the glossy twice before, in 2012 and 2015 — dressed in a Saint Laurent slip, which conveniently serves as a swan song for departing artistic director Hedi Slimane. Inside, the 26-year-old singer sheds her pop-pageant-queen persona for an edgier one that favors cool-kid labels like Vetements and Proenza Schouler. Thankfully, there’s not a terrible shoe in sight.

The accompanying article offers fewer surprises. There are bits about Calvin Harris, songwriting, haters and, of course, her squad.

No matter. We’re just happy to see something a little saucier from Ms. Swift, whose style — and everything else — is typically as flavorful and exciting as saltine crackers.
