Retired sanitation worker’s taxes are garbage

A city Sanitation worker moonlighted as a tax preparer for his co-workers — and the results were garbage, law-enforcement sources said Tuesday.

Peter Cisyk wrote off tens of thousands of dollars in deductions for uniform expenses for his colleagues, even though the city pays for the outfits, sources said.

In one case, he filed a return that tried to claim $20,000 for the bogus expense, sources said.

Cisyk, 48, was arrested Tuesday for tax fraud, grand larceny and falsifying records following an investigation led by the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office.

The DA found that Cisyk had fudged the numbers on at least 70 returns, many of which were filed by co-workers, sources said.

The Staten Island scammer allegedly pulled off the ruse from 2010 to 2015, sources said.

Cisyk was hired by Sanitation Department in 1995 and worked there until his retirement in October, an agency rep said.

Cisyk did not immediately return calls requesting a comment. His colleagues-turned-clients are being advised to have their taxes redone, the sources said.
