Fully clothed skeleton found in vacant apartment building

A man’s skeleton was found Monday afternoon in a Brooklyn apartment – and may have been in the vacant building for up to three years, cops said.

The fully clothed remains were found about 1 p.m. in bed on the second floor of 745 Barbey St. in East New York, cops said.

A police source said the man may have been a squatter and that he was found after a new owner recently purchased the vacant building.

“There’s only one tooth so hopefully we can make an ID,” another law enforcement source said.

A neighbor said homeless men and women were known to stay in the building.

“I’ve lived here since 1948 and nothing like this has happened,” said Maria Morales, 69, who lives nearby. “The explanation I have is maybe the homeless.”

There were no immediate signs of trauma and the medical examiner’s office was investigating to determine the cause of death.
