Chris Mullin’s frustration boils over in St. John’s latest new low

OMAHA, Neb. — The frustration of a dismal season finally set in for Chris Mullin.

The rookie St. John’s coach was ejected for the first time in his career with 13:44 left in a 100-59 shellacking by Creighton on Sunday.

Mullin was tossed after picking up his second technical foul in less than 6:00 for arguing an offensive foul on Kassium Yakwe with his Johnnies trailing 67-36. His assistants held back from storming the court.

Geoffrey Groselle had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Creighton (18-11, 9-7 Big East), which remains in fourth place in the conference , two games back of third-place Seton Hall. James Milliken added 19 points and Cole Huff chipped in 13.

The Bluejays shot 60 percent on 35-of-58 shooting, including 8-of-19 from long range, and outrebounded St. John’s 46-22.

Christian Jones scored 17 points and Yankuba Sima had 13 for St. John’s (8-22, 1-16), which has lost three straight.
