Sean Penn to speak about security at tech convention

Apple’s escalating tiff with the FBI is making data security sexier than ever.

Fresh off his El Chapo interview, Sean Penn will be in attendance at this week’s RSA Conference in San Francisco, along with Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and a slew of “white hat” hackers.

All are scheduled to speak at the annual security confab, which has been known in past years mainly for drawing crew cuts and pocket protectors.

A drone-hacking demonstration is scheduled, as well as panels on how to move beyond partisan bickering in Washington over privacy and national security.

Indeed, Apple’s battle with the feds is “more about law than technology,” opines Siemplify Chief Executive Amos Stern. He’ll be pitching a security analytics platform that prevents hacks by consolidating data from the hodgepodge of monitoring networks typically used by big corporations, Stern said.
