Yoenis Cespedes’ most insane car is yet to come

PORT ST. LUCIE — Yoenis Cespedes has a new favorite vehicle.

The Mets outfielder arrived for workouts Friday in his fifth different fancy set of wheels this week, a tricked-out Jeep worth about $80,000.

“That’s the first jeep I’ve driven and it’s like a space ship,” said Cespedes, who arrived with his car guru, Alex Vega, owner of The Auto Group in Miami.

Cespedes said the jeep was his favorite ride this week, and he intends to have the vehicle brought to New York for use during the season.

The grand finale is slated for Saturday, when Cespedes will arrive in yet another stylish vehicle.

“Trust me, you don’t even understand [Saturday],” Vega said, when asked about the sixth installment.

Cespedes’ cavalcade so far has cost him about $873,000. He began the week by arriving in a monster-sized customized Ford F-250 truck and then moved to a Polaris slingshot three-wheeler before arriving in a black Lamborghini Aventador and an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

In his native Cuba, the outfielder said his mode of transportation was a bicycle. But the possibilities became almost limitless after he signed with the Athletics and was introduced to Vega, whose clients include Hanley Ramirez, Nelson Cruz, Alfonso Soriano, Starlin Castro and Pablo Sandoval.

Cespedes started with a Mercedes SUV because he liked the family aspect of the vehicle. The Alfa Romeo was purchased just before his trade to the Red Sox.

“It happened to be in my place and it belonged to another client and [Cespedes] made him an offer,” Vega said. “When he went to the Tigers was when he got the Lamborghini. He got the Polaris next and the last cars he got were the F-250 and the Jeep.”

Cespedes has spoken to Vega about designing a “Batmobile,” but nothing is imminent.

Vega said Sandoval, the Red Sox’s third baseman, has been his top client.

“He’s had probably three times the amount of Cespedes’ cars,” Vega said. “[Sandoval] just gets one, has it for a couple of months and jumps to another car. He loves cars.”
