Weird But True

Unicorn captured after 3-hour hunt

Unicorns do exist — just ask cops in California, where a pony with a faux horn attached to its forehead led cops on a three-hour chase.

The hot-to-trot steed was dressed up like the mythical creature for a children’s birthday party in Madera Ranchos on Wednesday night, and she escaped twice, according to KMPH news.

“We got a call of a unicorn running in the roadway on 12th Avenue near Road 32,” California Highway Patrol officer Justin Perry recalled to the local Fox affiliate. “I’m been doing this for 14 years and this is my first call for a unicorn.”

Cops chased the 400-pound horse, named Juliet, through traffic for hours — even calling in an H40 police helicopter to help track the animal after it got spooked during a photoshoot.

It wasn’t until a local resident rode up next to Juliet with her own horse, Shady, that she followed them into a trailer — a fairy-tale ending.

“I was standing with the CHP at the time and a call came over the radio that said the unicorn is in custody, and there was a huge sigh of relief, a few tears, and some laughter,” said Juliet’s owner, Sandra Boos. “It was the comedic relief needed in the moment.”
