Trump pulls within a point of Cruz in Texas

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump has pulled within a single point of Ted Cruz in the Texas senator’s home state, according to a poll released Wednesday.

Cruz was favored by 29 percent of voters polled by Emerson College in the Lone Star State, with Trump at 28 percent.

The results came a day after Trump’s dominating win in the Nevada caucuses, his third straight victory in the GOP race.

Texas is one of the dozen states voting on Super Tuesday next week, and the New York real estate mogul has gone all out to beat Cruz on his own turf.

It would be a devastating blow to Cruz, the only GOP contender to have beaten Trump, squeaking past him in Iowa.

The University of Texas released its own poll Tuesday showing Cruz ahead of Trump 37 percent to 29 percent.
