Gunman storms workplace, kills 3 before being shot dead by cops

A painter at a lawn mower factory in Kansas went on a shooting spree Thursday night, killing at least three people and wounding 14 others before he was gunned down by police.

Cedric Ford, 38, who had prior convictions for burglary, drove around in a truck and opened fire at several locations, including the factory where he worked in Hesston.

Ford started his rampage while driving through the town of Newton. He shot one man in the shoulder and another in the leg before entering his workplace at Excel Industries. He opened fire in the parking lot and continued the carnage inside the building as workers fled in panic.

Employees at the factory said the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute with co-workers.

“He had some mental issues and . . . he was being teased a little bit,” Jared Trujillo told KAKE-TV.

Local news stations identified the shooter as Ford after talking to various workers at the factory who said they knew him.

Ford had multiple convictions in the state of Florida for crimes such as burglary and possession of a weapon.

A Facebook page that belongs to Ford displays images of the man carrying multiple firearms along with pictures of him playing miniature golf and going to the zoo with children.
