Man stabbed on subway after confronting suspected pickpocket

A man was stabbed multiple times in the neck on a Brooklyn subway train Tuesday night after confronting another straphanger he believed had stolen his cellphone, authorities said.

The 27-year-old victim told police that he boarded an M train at the Myrtle Avenue station just before midnight and recognized the man who had snatched his device several days earlier sleeping on one of the benches.

When the victim woke the man, the suspect sprang up and pulled out a sharp object before jamming it twice into his neck and once into his hand, cops said.

The injured man then got off the train and walked to Woodhull Hospital, where he was treated for his wounds.

Investigators found the stabber, who is believed to be homeless, still riding the train and took him into custody around 2:30 a.m., police sources said.

Charges against him are pending.
