Woman was raped in Staten Island office building: police

A 44-year-old woman was raped and robbed inside a Staten Island office building, police said.

A man identified by police as Maurice Scott, 28, allegedly entered the building on Forest Avenue in Mariners Harbor at 5:30 p.m. Friday and attacked the woman.

He also snatched her jewelry, Samsung cellphone and cash before fleeing, cops said.

Scott and the victim do not know each other, cops said.

Police describe Scott as 6 feet and 290 pounds with a dark complexion and heavy build, with black afro hair, brown eyes and facial hair. He also has a tattoo of a five-pointed star on his left cheek. He was last seen wearing a green camouflage baseball hat, a green camouflage jacket and black pants.

An image also shows Scott inside a nearby bodega about a half-hour before the rape, police said.

Cops say Scott is known to frequent the Mariners Harbor, New Brighton, West Brighton and Stapleton neighborhoods of Staten Island.
