Man scalded with boiling water in possible hate crime

A 50-year-old man was attacked by three guys who kicked and punched him, hurled racial epithets at him and scalded his face with boiling water in The Bronx, police sources said.

Thomas Kornell told cops the trio confronted him about 9 p.m. Sunday and pushed him to the ground at 44 West Kingsbridge Road near Reservoir Avenue. It’s unclear if he knew his attackers.

Kornell said one of the men called him a “n—–” and threw the boiling liquid at his face.

He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and treated for severe burns to his face. He was expected to survive. The three men, two Hispanic and one black, fled the area, and there were no arrests.

The NYPD was investigating the case as a bias crime.
