The sun as you've never seen it

This image, released by NASA, is a composite of 23 separate images.UPI

This out-of-this-world image of the sun will brighten your day.

The photo is actually a composite of 23 separate images taken between Jan. 11, 2015, and Jan. 21 of this year.

The Solar Dynamics Observatory, which was launched in 2010, shot the sun every 12 seconds in 10 different wavelengths — capturing solar material of more than 1,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

“The image is remarkably consistent and stable despite the fact that SDO orbits Earth at 6,876 mph, and Earth orbits the sun at 67,062 mph,” according to NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
