An upcoming episode of “The Simpsons” will go live — for three minutes, anyway.
As live TV becomes all the rage, the long-running Fox series will dedicate a segment at the end of its May 15 episode to Homer Simpson commenting on topics of the day and answering questions from fans.
Producer Al Jean told the Wrap that “The Simpsons” will accomplish the live feat — which he says is a first for an animated show — by using motion-capture technology and improvised voice-over by actor Dan Castellaneta, who plays the family patriarch.
Homer will be the only Simpson going “live,” but other characters will be in the scene as well, Jean said. The three-minute scene will air live on the East and West coasts, with different questions and answers for each broadcast.
