Suspected Statue of Liberty ticket scammers held in beating of tourist

The woman busted as the accomplice of a man who allegedly knocked out a tourist near the Staten Island Ferry terminal sneered Wednesday that she was the victim.

“The tourist attacked me!” Teresa Thorson yelled as she was led from the First Precinct station house after being charged with assault.

Police had earlier busted Robert Andersen, 25, near his Brooklyn home and charged him with felony assault.

He allegedly smacked Arkansas visitor William White when he refused to illegally buy tickets to see the Statue Liberty.
Shellye said she was happy to hear that cops had busted Andersen.

“Praise the Lord. That’s so good to hear,” she told The Post from Bellevue hospital Wednesday.

It is believed Andersen was working in tandem with Thorson when they came upon the couple Monday afternoon, sources said.

Thorson approached them and tried to illegally sell them passes around 3:30 p.m., police say. When William declined, Andersen allegedly punched him in the face.
