Brandon Marshall has retirement plan Jets will love

Brandon Marshall is ready to call it quits – if the Jets are the last team standing next year.

The Jets wide receiver was asked on Twitter if he was ready to win it all next year, and he responded by saying: “Yes then I retire.”

The No. 1 receiver hasn’t answered retirement questions of late, though he will be 32 in March. Marshall enjoyed a huge first season with the Jets — 1,502 receiving yards, 14 touchdowns — and was named to his sixth Pro Bowl. He has said he doesn’t want to play for another team after the Jets.

That wasn’t the only Twitter news Marshall made on Wednesday, however. Asked if Patriots coach Bill Belichick haunts his dreams, Marshall said: “I own him.”

In 10 games against Belichick and the Patriots, Marshall has 52 receptions for 787 yards and five touchdowns, but his team’s record is 3-7. Marshall had 115 yards receiving and two touchdowns in a 26-20 overtime win over New England this year, but also dropped a touchdown pass in the two teams’ first meeting, a 30-23 Patriots victory.

Marshall never has reached the postseason in his 10-year career, narrowly missing out this season, while Belichick has won four Super Bowls as a head coach.
