Memo to Kanye West: Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t use Twitter

Kanye West managed to violate the first rule of approaching investors: Know your audience.

The increasingly erratic rapper took to Twitter on Sunday to beg Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for $1 billion to help bail him out of $53 million of debt.

Maybe it was meant to be a publicity stunt, but West should have done his homework before hitting up the billionaire with a direct plea — as savvy social media users were quick to point out to Zuckerberg.

“Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t have a Twitter, and one look at Kanye’s Twitter would make any smart investor turn and sprint away,” one user, BeckyLee Briggs, posted on Zuckerberg’s Facebook page.

While the Facebook boss is active on his own social network, routinely posting family pictures and making corporate announcements, he hasn’t been active on Twitter in years. His last tweet was sent in January 2012.

“Kanye West is trying to communicate with you via his Twitter I think you should take a look,” read a Facebook post from Sam Mcfarland to Zuckerberg.
