Leopard that went on mauling spree at school escapes again

The leopard that mauled three people at an elite school in India last week is on the loose again.

The nearly 100-pound cat escaped from Bangalore’s Bannerghatta Zoo, where it had been placed after going on a rampage on Feb. 7 at the Vibgyor International School, CNN reported.

The 6-year-old leopard may be in a national park that surrounds the zoo, but the chances of it straying into residential areas are small, state wildlife chief Ravi Ralph said.

But authorities are not taking any chances and have alerted area residents.

About 1,500 leopards live in the state of Karnataka, but they rarely stray far into urban areas.
