Daughter of fallen ‘Superman’ cop to sing at benefit

NYPD Detective Joseph Lemm loved to hear his daughter sing — and now, she’ll pay touching tribute to her fallen-hero dad by performing at a memorial benefit for the family Feb. 25.

“While everyone knows [Lemm’s] nickname was ‘Superman,’ they think it was because of his size. But it really was because his heart was bigger. He never said no when someone asked him for help,” a coworker said.

Lemm, a staff sergeant in the Air National Guard, was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan just before Christmas. He was on his third tour of duty overseas.

The married dad of two and 15-year Police Department veteran was recently posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for valor, with his commanding officers saying he put himself in front of the bomber to protect his comrades.

This month’s “NYPD SUPERMAN” benefit is for Lemm’s wife, Christine, daughter Brooke, 17, and son Ryan, 4. It is being organized by the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation.

Musical performers include the New York Tenors and Clyde McPhatter’s Drifters, while Scott LoBaido will do a “live painting performance,” organizers said.

Brooke also will sing Grace Potter and the Nocturnals’ “Stars” to honor her dad, who encouraged her talent by paying for lessons, they said.

The event starts at 8 p.m. at The Capitol Theatre at 149 Westchester Ave. in Port Chester in Westchester County.

Tickets start at $50.
