Overpopulation could force us to live underwater: researchers

Scientists believe that earth’s overpopulation will someday force mankind to live in underwater “bubble cities.”

The notion of mass underground living is no more unbelievable as today’s tech-driven society must seem to anyone around from a century ago, according to researchers in the SmartThings, a Samsung-backed tech blog.

“’Our lives today are almost unrecognizable from those a century ago,” according to scientist Maggie Aderin-Pocock, who co-authored the report.

“The internet has revolutionized the way we communicate, learn and control our lives.”

The earth’s population is now at 7.4 billion and is on the steady rise.

In future years, there’ll still be need for New York-style skyscrapers – really, really tall ones – and drones will be be more than just annoying toys, the scientists said.

“We are likely to see the emergence of towering mega-structures as well as sub-aquatic cities and transportation via advanced flying drones – some of which could be strong enough to transport entire houses on holiday,” according to Aderin-Pocock.
