The Serby Mock Draft 2.0 lines up the first 15 picks, in addition to the Jets at No. 20. Both the Giants, selecting 10th, and Jets need a pass rusher, and in this version, each gets one.
Free agency will change plenty, of course, but here’s how it ought to shake out in the meantime:
1. Titans
Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
Mike Mularkey’s only chance is to secure Marcus Mariota a blindside roadblock for J.J. Watt for the next decade. Anyone who draws comparisons to Tyron Smith will move Taylor Lewan to the right side.
2. Browns
Carson Wentz, QB, N. Dakota St.
New coach Hue Jackson is looking for the franchise quarterback who won’t be caught wearing wigs in Vegas. Showing up sober for practice also is considered a must for any new regime. Donald Trump would be the first to tell us the Browns don’t win anymore. Johnny Football couldn’t make the Browns great again. Maybe Carson Football can.
3. Chargers
Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
A bigger version of the Redskins’ Ryan Kerrigan who can juice up a pedestrian pass rush, versatile enough to line up as an outside linebacker in the 3-4.
4. Cowboys
DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon
Owner Jerry Jones needs a 6-foot-7, 290-pound monster to replace Greg Hardy more than he needs his quarterback of the future.
5. Jaguars
Jalen Ramsey, DB, Florida State
It’s doubtful he is the next Ed Reed, but it’s a flattering comparison, and he would be a Day 1 starter at free safety.
6. Ravens
Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
GM Ozzie Newsome needs an infusion of new blood on defense with OLB Terrell Suggs on his last legs and ILB Daryl Smith turning 34 in March, and this cat can get after the quarterback.
7. 49ers
Jared Goff, QB, California
By now, new coach Chip Kelly should be resigned to the fact he can’t make a deal for Mariota, but Colin Kaepernick isn’t the answer, and neither is Blaine Gabbert.
8. Dolphins
Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida
Dolphins exec Mike Tannenbaum drafted CBs Darrelle Revis and Kyle Wilson while with the Jets, and there is a big hole opposite Brent Grimes, who will be 33, and have you heard that Tom Brady plans on playing for 20 more years?
9. Buccaneers
Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky
New coach Dirk Koetter needs a cornerback, but this guy has been compared to Von Miller off the edge, and if he convinces teams his drug use is behind him, there will be ecstasy in the war room.
10. Giants
Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
Best Nigerian pass rusher available, a 6-foot-4, 275-pounder with long arms and 10 fingers.
11. Bears
Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
Coach John Fox will still be looking for an edge rusher, but now he won’t have to move Kyle Long to left tackle.
12. Saints
A’Shawn Robinson, NT/DE, Alabama
Coach Sean Payton could use a pass-rush bookend opposite DE Cameron Jordan, but beggars can’t be choosers when you’re the NFL’s worst against the run.
13. Eagles
Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis
New coach Doug Pederson can groom his 6-foot-7 quarterback of the future behind Sam Bradford, if he returns, and Mark Sanchez.
14. Raiders
Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson
A gaping hole exists in the secondary, where 2012 first-round pick D.J. Hayden is a bust at cornerback.
15. Rams
Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
The perfect big-receiver complement to Tavon Austin hopefully won’t be enticing enough for Magic Johnson to recruit Peyton Manning to Los Angeles for one last rodeo at age 40.
…
20. Jets
Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia
Explosive edge rusher fills a major need.
