New York City has a lot to offer on Valentine’s Day

Twenty thousand red roses, 25 refrigerated delivery trucks and 240 cans of Red Bull.

That’s the Valentine’s Day order list for Chelsea florist Nic Faitos. The flowers are for restaurants and hotels. The Red Bull, plus $1,000 worth of chips, Oreos and protein bars, is for Faitos and his holiday staff of 150, who have been working around the clock at Starbright Floral Design.

Faitos worries about the forecast, since 15-degree weather destroys delicate blossoms. But he, along with sweet-treat sellers — jewelers, hoteliers and countless other New York City companies that cater to the lovestruck — expects to see green Sunday.

“It’s going to be very good,” said Faitos. “A lot of out-of-towners are coming for the three-day weekend.”

In a way, New York — the city of romantic dreams spun in Hollywood classics like “An Affair to Remember” — is itself the ultimate Valentine’s Day present. Fourteen couples are set to tie the knot on the Empire State Building’s 86th floor observation deck, while a slew of surprise proposals, weddings and vow renewals unfold in Times Square.

Couples are giving eateries and hotels a welcome winter boost. At press time, the restaurant on the 101st floor of One World Trade Center and the Loews Regency Hotel on Park Avenue were nearly sold out for the weekend. By contrast, the Regency’s typical occupancy rate is 70 percent to 80 percent at this time of year, said Chef Concierge David Moreno.

By Brooklyn owner Gaia DiLoreto said that after restrained Christmas spending and a slow January, customers are splurging on chocolate and jewelry.

If your Valentine’s Day fantasies run to the more adventurous, Brooklyn’s Gotham Archery will let you shoot a few arrows and win, if not true love, a stuffed animal.

“I’m not into flowers or candy,” said Gotham customer Cristina Font. “This is a great idea.”
