A former teacher from a tony Manhattan prep school took a plea deal Tuesday for having sex with a 16-year-old student in the bathroom of an East Village nightclub.
Ex-Léman Manhattan Preparatory School teacher David Azurmendi, 34, pleaded guilty to statutory rape, sexual misconduct and child endangerment in exchange for 10 years’ probation. He’ll also have to register as a sex offender.
“He has accepted responsibility for his actions, and he is going to move forward with his life in a positive manner,” said defense lawyer Sanford Talkin.
The married father of two, who used to teach health at the ritzy $43,000-a-year school, admitted to having drinks with the teen student at Lit Lounge on Second Avenue last June.
He and the girl ducked into the bar’s bathroom, where the two had sex, according to the criminal complaint.
