De Blasio wants the press to pipe down about his horse carriage fail

Mayor de Blasio has spent two years trying to ban carriage horses from city streets — but he told the press Monday to focus on more important issues.

“You guys think I’ve been spending more energy than I’m spending,” he said at a press conference in Chinatown.

“I think this legislation is necessary, but I think you guys are interpreting it in ways that don’t reflect reality.”

After questions kept coming at him on the same topic, the mayor had enough.

“You all need to really think about what’s important, but go ahead,” he said.

De Blasio suffered a stinging defeat last week when a deal that would have taken the carriages off Midtown streets and cut their number fell apart 24 hours before it was scheduled to come up for a City Council vote.
