Exec overhaul at Time Inc.

Time Inc. Chief Executive Joe Ripp put new heads in charge of chasing three top advertising categories: auto, drugs and technology/telecommunications.

Mark Ellis, formerly senior VP, corporate sales, and now president and chief operating officer, is the new auto ad guru.

The second group executive, Greg Schumann, publishing director of Southern Living, Coastal Living and Sunset, becomes president of pharmaceuticals, and Brendan Ripp, Joe’s son, is the new group president of tech/telecom. He was senior VP and publishing director of the Sports Illustrated Group.

Schumann and Ripp will report to Ellis.

The three groups account for about 25 percent of the company’s sales.

The move appears designed to get ad agencies to purchase placements on many platforms, including print, Web and video.

Shares inched up 2 cents, to $14.38. The company reports full-year earnings on Thursday — and is expected to announce a revenue decline.
