Eternal boyishness doesn’t wear well on the aging Hollywood star. Just when you’re expecting the actor who first achieved notoriety as a young buck to mature into a more masculine, authoritative figure, disappointment sets in when that fails to happen. The face remains soft and round (and sometimes rounder than in youth), as if puberty has yet to kick in — and oddly unlined. Time has barely touched the faces of these film and television stars.

It hasn’t hurt his income any, but he’s not always believable in roles that require him to be a man’s man. With an Oscar nomination this year for “The Martian,” Damon, 45, is smiling all the way to the bank.

No doubt those came in handy when filming “Cruel Intentions” in his prime, but people are always shocked to learn that the actor, now 41, has two teenage children.
