Construction worker dies after falling six stories

A Manhattan construction worker fell six stories to his death Thursday while standing on a fire escape, authorities said.

The 62-year-old Queens man, whose name was not immediately released, was replacing the gutters in back of the building at 124 E. 107th St. in East Harlem when he slipped and took the fatal plunge around 12:05 p.m., cop sources said.

A police source called it “just a bad accident.”

The victim, who was not wearing safety equipment, worked for an Astoria-based construction company called Thiva.

His co-worker was on scaffolding nearby also installing the new gutters at the time of the fall.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Department of Buildings is investigating the incident.
