Trump opens checkbook, loans his campaign $10.8 million

Donald Trump has finally opened his checkbook to “Make America Great Again.”

In the last three months, the billionaire has loaned $10.8 million to his GOP presidential bid and donated $113,000, as his envious rivals have brought in more cash yet lag in the polls.

Additionally, Trump has collected more than $2.6 million from donors, mostly in contributions under $200, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.

In all, Trump brought in $13.6 million in the last quarter.

He spent $6.9 million as his popularity keeps growing among GOP presidential voters. The money has largely gone to payroll, travel, consulting, event production, advertising and buying $890,000 worth of his signature hats, records show.

Trailing behind him in the polls are several candidates who out-raised the billionaire.

Marco Rubio netted $14.2 million from donors, but spent $14.7 million in the last three months. He has $10.4 million left.

Ted Cruz raised $20.5 million and spent about $15.6 million and has $18.7 million left — putting the Texas senator in the best financial position for 2016 GOP hopefuls.

Ben Carson raised the most money for Republicans — $22.6 million — but has burned through most of it and has $6.6 million remaining.

Jeb Bush raised $7 million in the last quarter and still has $7.58 million.

For the second half of 2015, Bush’s Super PAC raised $15 million – putting the grand told for the year at $118 million, according to federal filings.

His biggest backer was former AIG chairman and CEO Maurice “Hank” Greenberg who donated $10 million from his New York investment company C.V. Starr.

The Right To Rise PAC spent nearly $60 million last year – with more than $47 million going directly to advertising to prop up Bush and tear down rivals Marco Rubio, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Chris Christie.

It’s the largest spending of any PAC for the 2016 race, yet Bush has failed to rise in the polls.

The super PAC still has $58.6 million leftover to blanket the airwaves.

The biggest fourth-quarter fundraising totals belong to Democrats.

Hillary Clinton brought in $38 million in total receipts. She’s spent $33 million and has $38 million left.

Bernie Sanders was hot on her heels with $33.6 million raised. He spent $32 million and ended the year with $28.3 million in the bank.
