Man arrested for DWI found hanged in jail cell

A prisoner hanged himself inside a Brooklyn jail cell on Sunday night, according to police sources.

The 28-year-old man, who had yet not been identified, was arrested for DWI in front of 9011 Ave. J in Canarsie at around noon, the sources said.

After being tested at the 78th Precinct’s Intoxicated Driver Testing Unit, he was transported to the 69th Precinct station house for processing.

He was found hanging from his T-shirt at around 5:30 p.m. and was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he died of cardiac arrest, according to police. Authorities are investigating.
