Donald Trump sitting pretty in Iowa polls

Donald Trump is leading the field among Iowa Republicans, according to poll results released Monday as voters there get set to select their party nominations.

Trump tops his rivals with 27 percent support of from Hawkeye State GOPers, while Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio followed closely at 26 percent and 22 percent, respectively, according to a poll by Emerson College.

Trump also leads in a final Quinnipiac poll of Iowa Republicans, also released on Monday, topping Cruz, 31-24. Marco Rubio was in third place at 17 percent.

On the Democratic side, Clinton led Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, 51-43, in the Emerson College poll.

But Sanders led, 49-46, in Iowa, according to Quinnipiac.

The Emerson College poll was taken between Friday and Sunday. The Quinnipiac survey was conducted from Jan. 25 through Sunday.

As soon as the caucus tallies are taken in Iowa, the GOP and Democratic road shows will head to New Hampshire where the nation’s first presidential primaries take place a week from Tuesday.

A Boston Herald poll revealed Monday that Trump and Sanders both hold huge leads in the Granite State.

Trump has the backing of 38 percent of Republicans there, ahead of Cruz at 13 percent and Rubio and Jeb Bush both at 10 percent. The Herald survey also showed Sanders, from the neighboring state of Vermont, leading Clinton in New Hampshire, 57-37.

A CNN/WMUR survey of New Hampshire voters, also released on Monday, showed Trump leading Cruz and Rubio, 30-12-11. That same poll of Granite State Democrats had Sanders up on Clinton, 57-34.
