‘Loving father’ gets slap on wrist for viewing kiddie porn

A Brooklyn judge gave a wrist-slap sentence to an admitted kiddie-porn-loving dad, astoundingly “explaining” that jail time would deprive the perv’s kids of a “loving father and role model.”

US District Court Judge Jack B. Weinstein sentenced the married, 52-year-old father of five to a shocking five days — which the man had already served in 2014 — plus seven years of supervised release and an unspecified fine.

The man, identified only by his initials, R.V., had admitted that he downloaded and watched on his home computer images showing men assaulting girls as young as 3. He also confessed to engaging in live video chats with underage girls, though their ages aren’t known.

Jail “will cause serious harm to his young children by depriving them of a loving father and role model, and will strip R.V. of the opportunity to heal through continued sustained treatment and the support of his close family,” the judge wrote in a 98-page defense of his sentence, published in the New York Law Journal.

Weinstein also claimed he factored in “shifting societal norms” on what is “acceptable” porn.

The US Court of Appeals has previously twice overturned Weinstein for child-porn sentences so low that they skirted federal guidelines.
