Ciara comforts Russell Wilson to start ‘celebrity QB’ offseason

Ciara will give Russell Wilson a shoulder to cry on for the next few months.

After the Panthers dashed the Seahawks’ bid to reach a third straight Super Bowl, the pop princess shared a sincere message for the quarterback after the dust finally settled at Carolina’s Bank of America stadium.

“My love. I am So Proud Of You! What A Phenomenal Season It’s Been. You Never Cease To Amaze Me With Your Faith, Will, Integrity, Resilience, and Courage. You Always Find A Way To Make Things Happen When It Seems Absolutely Impossible! Constantly Inspiring Me and Others Around. A Rare Breed You Are. My Champ. The Best Is Yet To Come. I Love You ❤️ #GoHawks #3,” she wrote alongside a sweet snap of her man.

Wilson returned the sentiment, publicly of course, with an emotional note of his own.

Wilson and Ciara’s relationship remains a buzzworthy topic in NFL circles, after his behavior on and off the field this past season drew a flurry of criticism from those closest to the organization.

Following Seattle’s loss to the NFC West rival Arizona in mid-November, Marshawn Lynch’s agent, Doug Hendrickson, took aim at Wilson on social media, stating, “pull your head out of your…,” in a since-deleted tweet. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen also alluded to a disconnect between the Seahawks brass and their A-list starter, saying Wilson had “changed his approach” for the 2015 season and become a “celebrity QB.”

Wilson bounced back with 24 touchdowns and one interception in the final seven regular-season games, but his two first half interceptions against the Panthers helped bury the Seahawks in a 31-0 hole. Their second-half comeback came up just short in the 31-24 defeat, which was Ciara’s cue to head to Instagram for some loving words.
