The Long Island Medium warns never to forget hair spray

Theresa Caputo has always been about hair-raising experiences.

Since 2011, the star of TLC’s “Long Island Medium” has been dazzling audiences with her chilling ability to allegedly channel the dead.

But it’s not just her journey to the spirit world that’s striking — there’s also her sky-high choppy blond mane and giant white talons.

Her signature teased blond pouf and long nails are an aesthetic love letter to the 1980s — and she never plans to change them.

“I will always have a pouf,” says Caputo, 49. “I will always have my nails. I might try something new, but there is no guarantee I will keep it.”

With the sixth season of her hit show underway, Caputo spills her beauty secrets — a routine that takes about an hour and 15 minutes from start to finish.

But there is one guiding ethos that rules her life: “Don’t leave Long Island without hair spray.”

Caputo has her hair trimmed every two weeks at ID Salon in Woodbury, LI. At home, she sprays Milbon styling mist on the roots, uses a leave-in treatment (CHI “Silk Infusion”) at the top, and blows her locks dry before putting in rollers. She then hits the bottoms with a flat iron and finishes with Matrix hair spray. “My hairdresser says people will say, ‘I want my hair like Theresa’s,’ ” Caputo says.

Makeup

When it comes to makeup, Caputo favors a toned-down look with neutral colors, letting her hair and nails steal the show. Her favorite brands range from prestige to drugstore. “I love Chanel foundation because it’s good on-camera,” she says, “but then I will use Maybelline mascara.”

Nails

“If I don’t have my nails, I feel like I lose my personality,” says the mother of two, who maintains her squared acrylic French manicure with twice-monthly visits to Cee Cee Nail in Hicksville, LI.

“It adds pizazz. I talk with my hands. I haven’t had color on my nails in 10 years, because you never have to worry about what you are going to wear.”

Clothes

Caputo’s tresses might be rooted in the ’80s, but her fashion is au courant: “I shop at Theory. I love [Azze-dine] Alaïa and Christian Louboutin, which is my obsession,” says Caputo, sporting a Theory two-piece.
