Teen gang-banger gunned down near high school

Two teenage boys were shot – one fatally – in broad daylight on a Brooklyn street Wednesday, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 2:45 p.m. at Livonia and Pennsylvania avenues in East New York, just a block away from the Thomas Jefferson High Educational Campus, cops said.

Darnell Wilkerson, 18, who police sources say is a known gang member, was fatally shot in the head and John Trinidad, 17, was shot in the right arm, according to sources.

Emergency responders rushed both teens to Brookdale Hospital, where Wilkerson was pronounced dead. Trinidad is listed in stable condition.

A school source said that the dead teen is a former student at the Jefferson Campus, while Trinidad is a current student at the campus where students must pass through metal detectors.

“I heard five shots and looked out the window and saw kids running around. I saw the guy lying on the floor,” said witness Hussein Ali, 29.

“He was lying face down with one shot to the head and a couple shots to the stomach. [There was] A lot of blood and he was not moving at all.”

Dramatic cell phone video, obtained by The Post, captured the shooting aftermath, showing the Wilkerson lying face down in the middle of the street with blood spilling from his head.

After the shooting, Trinidad staggered into a nearby deli called 2013 Riverdale Deli for help, surveillance video shows. A man who saw him said Trinidad seemed unaware that he was shot.

Pete Reyes, 47, who works at Brooklyn Deli and Grocery on Pennsylvania Avenue said, “All the kids from the school that were in here started crying and screaming and we all ran to the back of the store until it was over.”

Police recovered a firearm at the scene and took three people into custody for questioning, sources said.

Investigators believe a prior fight at the Jefferson campus earlier in the day led to the shooting, sources said.

The investigation is ongoing.
