The best and worst dressed on the Golden Globes red carpet

Award season got off to a slow start Sunday, as the Golden Globes red carpet proved that, when it comes to looking list-worthy, Hollywood’s best and botoxed are more than a little bit rusty. Safe-bet dresses in non-offensive colors were the order of the night, plus some sequined things and a few “OK, cool” capes.

Still, there were a few style moments — good and bad — that at least weren’t blah.

The Hits:

Alicia, Saoirse and Taraji were pure magic

The babes wore white. Alicia Vikander remained faithful to Louis Vuitton, rocking the most stylish pinafore we’re ever seen. Saoirse Ronan sported Yves Saint Laurent couture by Hedi Slimane. Meanwhile, winner Taraji P. Henson traded Cookie Lyon leopard for Stella McCartney’s clean lines.

The Calvin Klein-clad starlet looked like a million bucks — and the golden trophy she went home with. Never doubt the power of subconscious suggestion.

Julianne Moore wore a stunning gown designed by her date

Why bring your husband to the Golden Globes when you can bring your best friend, Tom Ford, who will bring you a badass dress?

The Misses:

Jokes on poor Jane — or should we say, Pierrot?

To some, Cate Blanchett’s style is beyond reproach. But we’re sorry: this couture getup works even less than the lopsided hairdo.
