The Jets might not have made the playoffs, but they still have a lot of fans appreciative of their 10-6 season.
A handful of Jets players, including quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and center Nick Mangold, were in attendance at the Garden on Tuesday night to watch the Rangers beat the Stars, 6-2. Midway through the second period, a group of the players were shown on the video board and were cheered loudly.
Out front was Fitzpatrick, with his beard easily recognizable. He waved to the camera and drew a large ovation, despite throwing three interceptions in the fourth quarter of the team’s 22-17 loss to the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday, thus ending its playoffs hopes. With seats right behind the Dallas bench, Mangold kept banging on the glass in a jesting manner, clad in a blue Rangers sweater.
As the television timeout was coming to a close and the hockey was about to restart, a group of fans seated near them started the “J-E-T-S, Jets! Jets! Jets!” chant.
