Masked men invade Bronx apartment, demand twins’ debit cards

Two masked men burst into a Bronx apartment early New Year’s Day and demanded that the 65-year-old twin brothers living there hand over their debit cards — before using a Taser on one of them to get both of their personal identification numbers, police said.

Carlos and Angel Galarza were asleep in their first-floor Bronx apartment when they heard a knock on the door at around 3 a.m. on Friday.

They thought it was one of their neighbors, so Angel opened the door.

“We were scared,” Carlos said. “They said, ‘Don’t say anything to the cops or you’ll get hurt.’ ”

After the brothers turned over multiple cards, one thief demanded that Carlos divulge their PINs, using a Taser to get him to comply, cops said.

“They said, ‘Listen, if you give me the wrong PIN, I’m going to come back for you,’ ” Carlos recalled.

At least one card has been used since the incident. There have been no arrests.
Carlos said he and his brother are just “happy to be alive.”
