How the ‘How I Met Your Mother’ mom spends weekends in NYC

Cristin Milioti is a familiar presence to New York theatergoers, who may have caught her Tony-nominated performance in “Once.” A couple of TV gigs have helped spread the love nationwide: The elfin actress was the elusive mom in “How I Met Your Mother” and the ailing wife of a state trooper in “Fargo.”

Now, she’s starring in “Lazarus,” David Bowie’s off-Broadway musical, through Jan. 20. The Fort Greene, Brooklyn, resident tells Elisabeth Vincentelli about her ideal weekend.

“I would love to go out for brunch, but I don’t like crowds or waiting in line, so I make breakfast myself. I’m like ‘Rain Man’: I’ve eaten the same thing every morning since I was 15 — two to three eggs, two pieces of toast with bacon and avocado.

“But I do love Smooch. It’s very close to my home, so I roll out there in sweatpants all the time. They have an amazing breakfast sandwich of ciabatta with avocado, hard-boiled egg and olive oil.

“On show weekends I eat almost exclusively at Bareburger. I always order the Socal with beef instead of turkey.

“At night, my favorite place in the city is Marie’s Crisis Cafe. Last time I was there, they let me fulfill a childhood dream, and I sang ‘On My Own’ [from ‘Les Miz.’] I could live at Marie’s Crisis.

“On Sunday, I mostly sit inside in my sweatpants, eating. What makes Fort Greene so special is that all my friends live there so we can just meet for a glass of wine. I love Walter’s, Roman’s, Colonia Verde — it has amazing atmosphere and really good steaks. I’m very spoiled with the amount of options in my neighborhood.”
