Stephanie George bolting Penske Media after less than a year

Stephanie George is departing Penske Media’s Fairchild operation — less than a year after joining as vice chairman responsible for all the print and digital business operations.

She will remain as a member of the board, sources said. Penske Media has yet to name a replacement.

Women’s Wear Daily, meanwhile, is said to be ready to accept its first-ever ads on its daily digital news outlet starting in January.

Penske had ended the daily print version of WWD in April and replaced it with a digital daily and a glossy weekly.

Jay Penske had promised to spend up to $18 million over several years to bring WWD back to profitability, sources said. When he took over Fairchild from Condé Nast/Advance, he confided to staffers that it was losing $10 million a year.

Penske and George had not returned calls seeking comment by presstime.
