The parents of slain TV journalist Alison Parker said Sunday that they will not rest until something is done to keep guns away from dangerous people.
“We want to take the point. We want to take the lead on this and get something done,” father Andy Parker told CNN, noting that Parker’s boyfriend, journalist Chris Hurst, is also joining the cause.
“You can’t change the world in a day,” mom Barbara Parker added. “But we cannot be intimidated; we cannot be pushed aside.”
Andy Parker said he was in contact with gun-control advocates, including former Rep. Gabby Gifford’s husband, Mark Kelly, and reps for former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe called for restrictions on gun purchases after the Roanoke reporter and cameraman Adam Ward were gunned down by a former co-worker Wednesday during a live broadcast.
